The 1992 Ford Mustang was a car purchased by Jakob Toretto when he was 13. He rebuilt the car from the ground up and kept it ever since, continuing to use it as an adult.

When Dom was released from prison, he tracks down Jakob who has become a prominent street racer in the LA Street Racing scene and challenges Jakob, stating that if he (Dom) wins then Jakob must leave LA forever. Dom and Jakob race and Dom is able to trick Jakob into letting off his NOS too early, allowing Dom to win the race and forcing Jakob to leave Los Angeles.

Jakob uses the car to drive to the Toretto House after he is called in by Dom to save Little B and Mia Toretto from an ambush by the Agency. When Jakob prepares to leave with Brian to take him to Portugal to rendezvous with Dom, Little B initially believes that a Dodge Ram is Jakob's however Jakob reveals that he is actually still driving his old Mustang, much to Little B's disappointment. He then drives the car to a gas station where he abandons it as they board a plane.

- The race between the 1992 Mustang and 1967 Charger reflects a future race between Jakob's 2015 Ford Mustang GT350 and Dom's 2020 Dodge Charger Hellcat in Montequinto.
