The 1998 Ford Explorer PPV is a minor car featured in Fast Five. The Car was driven by the Rio police.

This car along with the Volkswagen Jetta A3 Typ 1H is one of the police vehicles that chase down Brian and Dom when they steal the vault from Hernan Reyes. During the chase, one Explorer is shown along with a Civil Police Ford Focus trying to chase them down, but the duo split up their Chargers, allowing the vault to crash into both cars.
Another is shown along with a contingent of Ford Focuses, Chevy Trail Blazers, along with Volkswagen Jettas, only for it to flip into a destroyed street light caused by Brian and Dom. Later, another is shown joining a fray of Civil Police Dodge Chargers and Military Police Trail Blazers as they continue to chase Brian and Dom, with one of them being shunted out of the way by Roman Pearce, resulting it crashing into a yellow van with a Trail Blazer crashing to it as well.
When Dom decides to allow Brian to escape so he can use the vault to face the police himself, another Ford Explorer is shown when Dom uses the vault to destroy it which causes the vehicle to crash into a crevice.
