"You know I'd make a freight train take a dirt road, so do not get in my way."
―Aimes to Tess[src]

Aimes is the de-facto leader of the Agency who succeeded Mr. Nobody after the former's disappearance. He was secretly a double agent working with Dante Reyes after a partnership formed with him and his father in 2011, just moments before Dominic Toretto and Brian O'Conner stole a vault of money belonging to the Reyes family.

Aimes was able to turn the Agency against Dominic Toretto's Crew and later revealed himself as a double agent to Dom after shooting down a plane transporting Roman, Tej, Han and Ramsey inside.

Biography

Early Life

Partnership with the Reyes' Family

"Looks like our partnership is off to a fantastic start."
―Aimes to Dante Reyes
F10 0980

In 2011, Aimes was approached by Hernan Reyes to form a partnership for unknown reasons. During this time he met and befriended Hernan's son, Dante Reyes. On the day the partnership was finalized, the vault containing all of the Reyes' family money was stolen by Dominic Toretto and Brian O'Conner. Additionally, Hernan was killed by Luke Hobbs.

Joining the Agency

Following Hernan's death and the destruction of the Reyes' criminal empire, Aimes continued his partnership with Dante, who almost faced death himself, and the two vowed to get revenge on Dom and the rest of his crew for the heist. Aimes took a job with the Agency, a covert ops organization led by Mr. Nobody, most likely as a means to keep tabs on Dom and his crew who were also employed by the Agency on an on-call basis. To that end, he gathered records and intel on Dom's crew, their family members, and any associates of theirs.

After Mr. Nobody's disappearance, and possible death, in 2020, following a plane crash in Montequinto, Aimes was appointed as the new head of the Agency, much to the chagrin of Mr. Nobody's daughter, Tess, who did not agree with his stance towards the Toretto crew, unaware he was a double agent for Dante and believed he had just a different outlook than her father, who used the family for many jobs for the Agency that inevitably ended up saving the world from harm.

Dante Reyes' Revenge

Terrorist Attack

Helping Dante put his plan of revenge into motion, Aimes lured Roman Pearce to Rome on a fake assignment from the Agency that they have to recover a chip belonging to a supercomputer that was being transported in a truck through the city. Roman brings in Tej Parker, Han Seoul-Oh, and Ramsey for help and the group travel to Rome together to complete the job, unaware that it is a setup by Aimes and Dante to frame them for a terrorist attack.

This was only discovered when Little Nobody, former associate of Mr. Nobody, arrived at the Toretto home to arrest an injured Cipher, who was approached by Dante when he tried to form a partnership with her as he turned her own men against her and almost killed her when she refused as she desperately went to Dom, who stayed in Los Angles with Letty and little Brian, for help, into custody, reveals that he was unaware of any job being run by the Agency in Rome to the Torettos. Taking Cipher's warning into consideration and seeing how confused Little Nobody looked, Dom and Letty realized that the mission was a setup and the three left to rescue their friends.

However, despite being discovered by the Toretto crew as Dom, Letty and Little Nobody were successful in warning their friends about the setup, Aimes and Dante were able to successfully frame the family as terrorist. Although Dom and most of the crew escape, Aimes was able to capture Letty as the police arrested her and took her into his custody.

Approached by Tess

F10 0331

After framing Dom and his family as terrorists, Aimes' next step in Dante's plan was turning the Agency against the Toretto crew in order to use their resources to capture the team for his partner. However, before he pleaded his case with the Agency, Aimes was approached by Tess, who disagreed with his stance on Dom and his team as she knew something was wrong. Aimes pleaded his case with the Agency as he brought up the Toretto crew's past crimes and that some of their members were former law enforcers, such as Brian O'Conner, Luke Hobbs, Elena Neves and Mr. Nobody.

Once the Agency made the majority vote into manhunting Dom and his family, Aimes warned Tess to stay out of his way, as she mutters that she'll go her own way. After informing Dante that he successfully got the Agency vote into hunting Dom and his family, Aimes boarded a plane so he can follow the family, especially Dom's son Brian as a hostage for the latter. However, Aimes found out that Tess stole the God's Eye drive so he can't track them. Aimes then informed Dante that Tess stole God's Eye but did figure out that Brian was in Los Angeles with Dom's sister Mia Toretto as he also intends to take her as well. However, Aimes failed to kidnap Brain and Mia as her and Dom's brother Jakob Toretto arrived to bring their nephew to safety while she left to go into hiding with her husband and kids.

Later, Aimes saw Tess talking to Letty but didn't get to see a lot of the footage, as she blocked the video so she can help her escape the Agency custody.

Rio de Janeiro

Aimes then found out through Dante that Dom followed him to Rio and headed over there to capture him, after he met with Isabel Neves. However, Aimes was unaware that Dom was on good terms with the residents as they share a glance with him then pulled guns on him to delay him. Aimes then fought and takes down the residents but lost track of Dom. Fortunately for him, Aimes was informed by Dante that Dom was at the old Rio police station where the vault was stolen from and apprehends him along with a couple of agents from the Agency.

F10 0814

As they drive over the same highway where Hernan was killed, their car is ambushed by Dante and his men, all of this being a ruse to cover Aimes' tracks and allowing Dante to steal the God's Eye drive from Tess who also shows up.

Aimes throws Dom a gun, appearing to now take his side and realising why Mr. Nobody chose him and the two work together to take down Dante's men, however Dante 'escapes' with the God's Eye chip after shooting Tess who Isabel takes to the hospital, Aimes presumably gets shot during the attack. Aimes and Dom agree to work together and head to Portugal where Dante will be following his son.

Portugal

F10 0862

As Dante chases Brian and Jakob Toretto through Portugal, Dom instructs Aimes to have the plane's pilots lower the plane near the highway. Aimes tells Dom there's no space to land, however Dom reveals he has no intention on landing and drives his 1970 Dodge Charger R/T out of the plane and onto the road below. Aimes instructs Dom to take a service road which will lead to an airstrip where Aimes will land his plane and where another plane transporting Roman, Tej, Ramsay and Han will be meeting them. After Dom frees his son from Dante's captivity, he takes the service road as instructed but finds himself being cornered by two trucks on a narrow bridge leading to a dam.

Revealing Himself
"See, that's the problem with having a big family. Can't protect 'em all."
―Aimes to Dominic Toretto, after shooting the plane[src]
F10 0982

As Roman, Tej, Ramsey and Han's plane arrives, it was shot down by Aimes, who finally revealed that he has been working for Dante for the past ten years, and the plane crashes and seemingly kills the occupants, leaving their fates unknown. Dom then drives his car off the bridge and into the dam below. However, Dante then reveals that he rigged the area with explosives which he detonates, leaving Dom’s fate unknown.

Aimes would later help Dante get revenge on Luke Hobbs next, since he was the one who shot Hernan Reyes.

Personality

Aimes is presented to be a snarky and no-nonsense individual who seems to honor the law and believed anyone who has a criminal past are still one, even those who weren't in the first place or had well-meaning intentions. However, he seemingly redeemed himself after understanding that Dom wasn't guilty and formed an alliance with him.

However, this was all a facade as Aimes is secretly a treacherous, selfish, and ruthless tyrant who plans to use high organization for his business partner and ally Dante Reyes, using everything just to make sure Dante gets his revenge on Dominic Toretto and his extended family. Aimes is also very sneaky and deceiving, being good of hiding his partnership with Dante as the Agency and Toretto crew had no idea he's a double agent until he reveled himself to a defenseless Dom and his son Brian Marcos. However, Aimes showed some degree of respect for Dom in his skills as a racer and seemed to have some form of friendship with Dante.

Trivia

  • Aimes' role as a double agent is similar with Riley Hicks from Fast & Furious 6, who both infiltrated Dominic Toretto's Crew by pretending to be a military ally.
  • Aimes is also similar to Luke Hobbs as they both were task to hunt down Toretto and his crew and teamed up with the latter after an ambush setup by a member of the Reyes Crime Family (Zizi for Dom, his crew, Hobbs, & his team; Dante for Dom and Aimes). However, the big difference between the two was Aimes has been on Dante's side since the events of Fast Five and pretended to help Toretto to stop Dante.
