The Attack in Rome was a successful mission orchestrated by Dante Reyes to frame Dominic Toretto's Crew for a terrorist attack in Rome.
Background[]
In 2011, Dominic Toretto and Brian O'Conner stole a vault belonging to Hernan Reyes containing US$100 Million. During a chase that followed, Hernan and his son, Dante Reyes, pursued the pair along with a contingent of the Rio Police. After taking out the remaining corrupt cops, Dom used the vault to destroy Hernan's car and knock Dante's car into the water below. Dante was legally dead for two minutes and Reyes' was shot dead by Luke Hobbs. As a result of losing his father and family fortune, Dante spent the next ten years planning his revenge.

With Mr. Nobody off-the-grid and presumed dead, after his plane crashed in Montequinto, Aimes was elected the new leader for the Agency. However, Aimes was working as a double agent as he had previously struck up a partnership with the Reyes' family before the vault was stolen. Aimes orchestrated a false mission in Rome that required a supercomputer chip being recovered from a convoy. Roman Pearce was asked by the Agency to lead the operation and he employed Tej Parker, Han Seoul-Oh, and Ramsey to help him.
Dante then approached cyberterrorist Cipher looking to form a partnership with her to go against Dom. But after Dante realised that Cipher would rather have Dom dead than to make him suffer, as Dante intended, he turned her team of mercenaries against her. However, Cipher was able to evade her mercenaries and approached Dom, informing him and Letty about the incoming war Dante was set to bring. Cipher was then apprehended by the Agency, and Little Nobody informed Dom and Letty that there was no work in Rome for the Agency and they realised it was a setup by Dante.
Attack[]
In Rome, Roman and Han pursued the convoy in a 2003 Lamborghini Gallardo and a 1972 Alfa Romeo 2000 GT, respectively. As the convoy reached their vantage point, Tej and Ramsey jumped onto the truck that they believed contained the computer chip and incapacitated the drivers using tear gas. Ramsey and Tej got into the truck and were then locked inside by Dante who began piloting the truck remotley. As they reached crowded streets, Dante set off multiple explosions which the crew were blamed for.
Dom and Letty arrived in a 2020 Dodge Charger Hellcat and a motorcycle, respectively, and pursued the convoy to try and stop it. As the truck became incapacitated, Dante released a large bomb ball that was in the trailer and began rolling it through the streets of Rome, causing more damage. Dom pursued the bomb ball as Tej, Ramsey, Roman and Han went underground to evade capture.
Letty pursued Dante on his 2022 Harley-Davidson Pan America and helped Little Nobody narrowly avoid death after Dante planted an explosive on his car. As the pair approached the Fontana dell’Acqua Paola, Letty was boxed in by police officers who then apprehended her as Dante fled.
The bomb continued to roll through Rome, including the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and then approached the Vatican. As the bomb's countdown neared zero, Dom used a nearby crane to knock it into the Tiber River, mitigating its effects as it blew up, which Dante observed from a vantage point. However, the bomb still caused damage to the city with minimal casualties, forcing Dom to flee and splitting the crew up.
Aftermath[]
The attack was reported by various media outlets as well as Dominic and his crew being suspected of the bombing, prompting international authorities to enact large-scale manhunt on the Toretto crew. Taking advantage of this, Aimes turned the Agency against Dom and the crew and a bounty was put on their head as they were now declared international terrorists. Tess, the daughter of Mr. Nobody tracked Dom in Naples and warned him about Aimes' threats and that Dante had fled to Rio de Janeiro.
Dom then requested Tess' help getting Letty out of the blacksite prison where she was being held by the Agency with Cipher. Meanwhile, Tej, Roman, Han and Ramsey used a shipping container to flee to London where they met with Deckard Shaw to seek help after Dante drained their bank accounts.
Aimes sent an Agency team to Los Angeles to apprehend Brian Marcos and Mia Toretto, and they were ambushed and then later saved by Jakob Toretto who Dom called to bring Little B to Portugal whilst Mia went into hiding with Brian O'Conner and their kids. Dom then followed Dante back to Rio.
