Baja, officially known as the Baja California peninsula (English: Lower California Peninsula; Spanish: Península de Baja California) is a peninsula in northwestern Mexico and and minor location in The Fast and the Furious franchise.[1]
History
The Fast and the Furious
When Dominic Toretto, Letty Ortiz, Vince and Leon prepared to pull off their final score, Dominic mentioned to Letty that he had a dream about being on a beach somewhere in Mexico with her.[1]
When the theft of the truck fails and Dominic's crew are injured in the process, they go their separate ways to avoid arrest. Following the death of Johnny Tran at the hands of LAPD officer, Brian O'Conner, Dominic engages in a quarter mile race with his father's Dodge Charger against Brian's restored Toyota Supra.[1]
Both are able to jump the train tracks just as the train approaches them, but Dominic crashes the Charger into a oncoming truck. His father's car damaged, Brian gives Dominic the keys to his Supra and allows him to escape. As a result, Dominic is able to get far enough away from Los Angeles and eventually makes it to Baja, driving a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS.[1]
Trivia
- In Los Bandoleros, Letty mentions that she traveled to Mexico after they separated to find Dominic. Similarly, Han Seoul-Oh mentions that he met Dominic in Mexico, but neither character ever specifies that they went to Baja.[2]
