Bem-vindo ao Rio is the third episode of Season 2 of Fast & Furious: Spy Racers, and the eleventh episode of the show overall. It was released on Netflix on October 9, 2020.
Synopsis
The Spy Racers explore Rio hoping to find the gang that captured Layla, but soon have to question if she's on their side or has turned against them.
Plot
The gang drives through Rio, all impressed by the city. When asked how he is going to find Layla, Tony flexes his tattoo, showing the formula, and telling them he needs to talk to the right people. A local kid asked Tony if he could take a picture with his car, which Tony happily agreed to. Once he left Tony's sight, he emailed the picture to someone else.
Cisco lost track of Donut, who ran off to get a banana. When Cisco caught up to him, he apologized for his pet eating everything at a local man's fruit stand. Cisco asked the man if anybody is looking for a formula, but the man did not know, and warned he might get a brain freeze if he eats his acai bowl too fast.
Frostee started doing capoeira while surrounded by locals, and impressed them all with his drones and moves, while Tony found men, and decided he would reveal Marchelo's backstory. He told the men he had left prison and was looking for his father, however, he was angering the men because he was blocking the TV, which forced him to leave.
In the meantime, Echo found a painted wall, and threw her brooch which was able to catch it completely. All this while Ms. Nowhere followed a man who was kidnapped by a van. However, Ms. Nowhere was able to place a tracker on the van.
Tony and his crew soon found themselves surrounded by men in bikes.
The teenagers all got together and talked about all they had seen and done. Just as Tony complained about the difficulties of international spying, they were all surrounded by motorcycles. The leader took off his helmet and welcomed them to Rio, accompanied by the kid who had taken the picture with Tony. The man told them to follow him as they would go to headquarters. On the way, Tony told everyone to stay sharp.
They arrived at a mansion, and Echo realized the woman whose face was on the paintings on the walls were similar to the paintings she had seen on the street, San Rafaela. The man who received them at the house explained that San Rafaela had come from a wealthy family. Her father was a strong man, who controlled favelas in Rio. San Rafaela was pure, and kind to everyone; but she was killed when assassins killed her father, as she was caught in the crossfire.
Ms. Nowhere mentions she has eyes on Prince Ivan, but she realizes that who she sees appears to be an impostor, who wanted to take over his country. Ms. Nowhere was stopped by a man, however, and was challenged to a swordfight by the impostor.
Tony and his crew were able to find Layla, who was introduced as the boss.
The boss is announced, but Tony is surprised to see it is Layla. Tony introduces himself as Marchelo, but is coldly greeted by Layla, who orders a photo be taken of the formula on Tony's arm, and then commands the teenagers be killed.
The crew is able to break a window and jump onto a sofa Cisco threw to the ground, and escapes. However, they are followed by the men. Frostee sends Ms. Nowhere messages, asking for help, but she dismisses them. As the chase ensues, Layla crashes into Tony, who is convinced she is only trying to keep her cover.
Tony and his team had to run from Layla as she chased him through the streets of Rio.
As Ms. Nowhere got more texts from Frostee, she was able to distract the impostor, break free, and take all the men down. Now that she was free, she sent them directions to a safehouse. As Cisco tried losing the people chasing him, the kid Tony met before warned his grandfather, the man who gave Cisco the acai bowl, to be careful. However, Cisco was able to break and not hit the grandfather. This caused the motorcyclists to crash into the back of his truck.
The boy told Cisco to park in his garage. However, Cisco was unsure because he had ratted them out before. The boy told him not to worry, as they had saved his grandfather, which changed things. Tony was able to lose Layla and go the safehouse shortly after.
Ms. Nowhere told Prince Ivan the plan was to get him captured so she could find out the impostor's real plan, which fascinated the prince. He offered to give her his number, but she mentioned she already had it. Afterwards, she told Gary to let the teenagers know she was on her way.
