The Chase of Johnny Tran and Lance was an the final climatic event between Dom Toretto and Brian against Lance and Johnny. It was followed by a quarter mile race.

Background

During Race Wars, Jesse in his Volkswagen Jetta raced against Johnny Tran in his Honda S2000. Jesse would lose the race because he used the NOS too early. Since he lost Jesse was supposed to give the pink slip to his car to Tran, but instead left Race Wars. The next day Tran and his cousin went to the Toretto household. After Johnny and Lance shot and killed Jesse both Dominic Toretto & Brian O'Conner decided to go after them. Dom's sister Mia told Dom to not go, but he went anyway. O'Conner got back in his Toyota Supra & Toretto finally decided to use his Dodge Charger.

The Chase

O'Conner follows the duo. At one point Lance of them goes off road. Toretto arrives and hits Nguyen off his Yamaha YZF-R1 and Lance falls down a hill. He moves a bit, but his overall fate is ambiguous. Brian decides to shoot Tran. He hits him in his rib and kills him. His bike and body stop near a tunnel. Brian gets out of his Supra to see if Tran is dead, he is.

Aftermath

Brian tells a civilian to call 911. O'Conner goes to meet up with Dominic at a red light. Toretto tells him that in his high school days he would race there, since the train tracks are a mile away. When the light turn green the two of them take off. At first the Charger takes the lead, and Brian uses the NOS in his Supra just to keep up with the sheer horsepower of the Charger. As they race they notice a train approaching. Instead of stopping they double down. Dom gear shifts his Charger and the engine does something, surprising Dom. Brian uses his second NOS as they almost cross the tracks. The Supra barely beats out the Charger. The whole race was actually nine seconds long. Immediately after Dom's Charger hits a truck and flips over the Supra. Brian decides to give Dom his Supra because he still owed him a ten second car. Dom drives to Baja, Mexico and leaves the Supra somewhere along the way. Brian leaves LA and goes to Miami.
