Elle Lue is the adopted daughter of Han Seoul-Oh and the key to activating Project Aries after her parents locked it with their DNA. As a result, she was targeted by Otto and Jakob Toretto, who sought to use Project Aries to destabilize the current world order. After the successful mission to shut down Project Aries, she joined Dominic Toretto's Crew.
Biography
Early Life
Elle Lue was born in Japan in the early 2000s. When she was younger, her parents created the Project Aries device. Because of this, they were targeted by Otto, who sought the device. When Mr. Nobody was looking to acquire and secure the device, he made a plan with Han Seoul-Oh, the lover of Mr. Nobody's former associate, Gisele Yashar, to get the device from Elle's parents house.
Han went to their house to recover the device. As he acquired the device, Elle's parents were leaving to take her to the movies for getting good grades, which Elle stated was a custom with them, but Elle forgot her rain jacket and while going back to get it, her parents started the car, which immediately blew up, killing them.
Otto's operatives then stormed the house looking for the device and after discovering Elle hiding, they tried to shoot her but were killed by Han, who was still around. Han learnt that Project Aries was locked by Elle's parents with their DNA, meaning only she could unlock it.
As Mr. Nobody knew that only Elle could unlock the device and that Otto would be sending more operatives after her and Han. Additionally, one of his agents, Jakob Toretto, went rogue and joined forces with Otto. Therefore, he used Deckard Shaw as cover, faking Han's death. Mr. Nobody arranged for Elle and Han to go into hiding together and the two stayed hidden in Tokyo. As a result of her parents death, Elle grew up to be a fighter.

Elle meets Mia and Letty
When Ramsey finds information amongst Mr. Nobody's plane wreckage that Han was working with Mr. Nobody, Dominic Toretto sends Letty Ortiz and Mia Toretto to Tokyo to find out more information about him. Using a postcard Han once sent before his 'death', which featured a photo of Mexico on it, Letty finds an apartment with a Mexican flag in the window and remembered a comment he once made about Mexico being his old west that he runs away to.
Elle joins forces with Dominic Toretto's Crew
Letty and Mia search the apartment and find a photo of Han and Young Elle and they are promptly interrupted by an older Elle who warns them to get down as Otto's and Jakob's agents storm the apartment. Elle, Letty and Mia worked together to fight the agents and the fight ends when Letty knocks the last agent out of the window when he tried to shoot Elle.
After finding Han alive, Letty and Mia bring him and Elle back to their bunker in the Caspian Sea where they both tell their stories of how they came together. Just as Elle finished her story, Otto infiltrated the bunker to free Jakob from his imprisonment and as Jakob had heard the story, they take Elle with them so they can finally activate Project Aries.
The team, minus Tej Parker and Roman Pearce, follow Jakob and Otto to Tbilisi and Han and Mia infiltrate an armored 2011 STC Delta Didgori-2 which Elle is being held captive in. They fight the two guards in the car and take control of the car and Elle uses the machine gun mounted on the top to try and destroy The Armadillo.
Joining Dom's Crew
Elle meets the Tokyo Drift trio
After the battle ends, Elle returns with the rest of the crew, including Sean Boswell, Earl, and Twinkie, to Los Angeles where they share a barbecue together. Elle is introduced to the Tokyo Drift trio and watches as Brian O'Conner arrived in his Nissan Skyline.

When Dominic discovered Dante's vision board, he discovers a list of people that Dante has been tracking that he intends to get revenge with. One of these people being Elle whose name appears on his list, due to her association with Han.
Personality
Elle Lue is a young woman with strong ties to family motives, stemming from the death of her parents after they were targeted by Otto for Project Aries. Prior to the incident, she was a happy girl with a good relationship with her parents. However, after witnessing their murder, she was fear-stricken until she was narrowly saved by Han Seoul-Oh.
In the following years, she became more brave and resourceful, being trained to fight as she was targeted due to her DNA acting as a code to unlock Project Aries and remaining calm even when captured, although it's clear the deaths of her parents still haunt her. She also grateful to Han for saving her and considered him family, also helping his old teammates Letty Ortiz and Mia Toretto. She was able to bond with the rest of Dom's extended family and Han's old crew following her rescue in Tbilisi.

- Vin Diesel described Anna Sawai as one of the most "hardworking" cast members on set.
- Anna Sawai stated that she and Justin Lin discussed how Elle was brought up as a fighter after her parents' death, so she wanted her stunt training to feel natural and that she didn't want to think of the moves as she was fluent in fighting.
- It is stated that Elle was 11 when Han saved her. Given that this takes place around the events of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, which in the timeline takes place in 2014, and the events of F9 take place in 2019, it can be assumed Elle is around 16. This raises a discrepancy as the actress was in her late 20s.
- In Fast X, Elle's full name appears as Elle Lue.
