The Pontiac Fiero is a modified car that is featured in F9. It was designed by Sean Boswell and driven by Roman Pearce.
History

Roman and Tej arrive in Cologne to meet with Sean Boswell, Twinkie and Earl, who Dom knew from his visit to Tokyo in Furious 7. They discover that the trio are being paid by the military to design rocket engines and they have attached one to a Pontiac Fiero, much to Roman and Tej's disapproval. After Sean makes some adjustments, to which he is criticised by Earl who believes he shouldn't be modifying the rocket engine, they hear a siren indicating that a jet is about to depart from the army base. The trio setup the car along a strip next to the tarmac and race the jet. Although the car doesn't win, the trio still cheer as their invention worked, however the car blows up moments later.
After Otto and Jakob launch a satellite into orbit, Dom instructs the team that they have no choice but to destroy it. Because it can't be done remotely, they realise they have to do it physically, hence meaning they'd have to travel into outer space. They get in contact with Sean and Earl again, who have since rebuilt the Fiero, and they attach the car to a plane which is piloted by Sean. After Earl runs some tests he realises that they need to bring the plane higher in order for the car to successfully be shot into orbit after free-falling.
Sean brings the plane up to 50,000 feet and Tej and Roman launch the Fiero into a free fall. Earl activates the rocket engine and the car is successfully shot into orbit. When Tej and Roman try to destroy the satellite by activating the magnets on the plane, the magnets fail and Roman suggests the only way to destroy the satellite is to crash into it. Tej explains that by doing this they risk killing themselves amongst impact as well as using all the fuel in the engine needed to send them back to Earth, but Roman says it's the only way to the save the lives of everyone on Earth.
Roman activates the rocket engine and the Fiero makes contact with the Satellite and blows it up, stopping Project Aries from uploading the satellite uplink and thus foiling Otto's plan. Roman and Tej survive and are soon found by astronauts in a spacehip who help them get back to Earth.
