The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is the primary law enforcement agency responsible for criminal investigation in Los Angeles.
History[]
The Fast and the Furious[]
The LAPD and the Federal Bureau of Investigation were tasked with investigating a recent string of truck hijackings that occurred in a span of four months. They sent Brian O'Conner to find out who the perpetrators were before the truckers could arm themselves. Going undercover, he was assigned a green, modified Mitsubishi Eclipse for the mission and under the name of "Brian Earl Spliner", and worked as an employee in The Racer's Edge.
During a street race gathering, Brian competed in a street race against Dominic Toretto, Edwin, and Danny Yamato so he can find a lead on the hijackers. Just as it was about to start, Leon, the street racing organizer, checked on his police scanner in his 1995 Nissan Skyline GT-R R33 for any LAPD presence in the area. After finding out that the LAPD have been reported to investigate a recent homicide, the race began, but after Dominic's victory, Leon warned the police's arrival as several LAPD units chased down the street racers including Dom, who parked his Mazda RX-7 in a garage. He then began to flee on foot just as a LAPD officer chased him through an alleyway but was later rescued by Brian, giving him a ride home though they were later lured to Little Saigon by Johnny Tran and his goons fleeing on a taxi back home after the Eclipse exploded.
The next day, Brian was later "arrested" by Tanner and was brought back to a house. Brian then discussed the situation with Bilkins, who began to doubt Brian as they knew that neon green lights were the only evidence they found. After Brian found out that Johnny was presumed to be one of the hijackers after finding out evidence of DVD players inside a garage, he organized a mission to arrest Tran, though Bilkins and Tanner continued to question his motives on Dominic, believing him that he's "going native". Brian then organized a SWAT raid to arrest Tran and his cousin Lance Nguyen. The LAPD squad went to Little Saigon where they apprehended Nguyen, while the SWAT team led by Brian invaded Tran's house. However, they were later released since that the DVD players were purchased legally and the only evidence that was found were low rent weapons and speeding tickets. Bilkins then told Brian that he had 36 hours to find the real perpetrator or else he'll be fired. Tanner then confronted Brian outside that the hijacker is always Dominic and that Tran and Hector were just fumes, confronting him on his loyalties as he needs to make a choice since he can't let Dom go back to prison.
After Dominic was injured during a street race with Brian, several ambulances and presumably the LAPD begun to report on the accident. Brian then handed over the keys to Dom as he escaped in the Supra before facing the LAPD for resignation.
Turbo-Charged Prelude[]
As Brian prepared to leave Los Angeles after being branded a fugitive for aiding Dominic's escape, a squadron of LAPD officers were tasked to find him. They went to Brian's house to apprehend him, only to find out that he escaped and left his badge in his bathroom.
Furious 7[]
When Brian transported Ramsey in his Nissan GT-R so she can regain God's Eye while being chased by a drone launched by Mose Jakande, an LAPD officer chased after him believing that he was speeding. However, Jakande ordered his drone pilot to fire a missile on Brian, though it misses and hits the police car instead, killing the officer. Brian was then forced to hand Ramsey to Roman Pearce before the drone destroyed the GT-R. With Ramsey in Roman's car, along with Tej Parker, several LAPD units pursued them. Jakande's drone continued to open fire, destroying several parked cars and lamp posts that halted their advance.
