Whitworth was a corrupt police detective under Carter Verone's payroll who was tortured into giving Brian O'Conner and Roman Pearce a window to transport his money before the rest of the MPD arrived. Brian and Roman, with Enrique and Roberto later arrived at the mobile homes where the money was located. After retrieving the money, Whitworth decided to not give Verone the window and ordered all police units to move on the property to arrest Brian and Roman. With MPD units mobilizing on them, Brian and Enrique got on their car, but Roman decided to put a rock on the Dodge Durango's accelerator, halting some units before getting in the Eclipse. This leads to a high speed chase around the freeway, with Bilkins and U.S. Customs also monitoring them. In the ensuing chase, a Miami PD helicopter containing two SWAT agents opened fire with ESD harpoons on Brian's Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII and Roman's Eclipse, though one of the hooks hits Brian while the other misses. Brian, realizing that his car is in jeopardy, had Enrique hold the gas pedal for him while he went on the back of the car to remove it. As Brian struggled to remove the hook on his car, he realized the speedometers were nearly shutting the vehicle down, though he is able to take it off and throw it at one of the police cars, shutting it down and causing a massive pileup over the freeway.
Brian and Roman continued to avoid the other police forces and roadblocks as they led them to a warehouse complex to orchestrate a "scramble" so they can sneak away in the Camaro and the Challenger. With police forces surrounding the warehouse, several Dodge Rams drove out of the garage to ram the police cars out of the way before dozens of street racers drove out, including Orange Julius, Slap Jack, and the pink S2000 driven by one of Suki's crew mates. As the MPD pursued many street racers, they eventually located and chased down the Evo and Eclipse, believing them to be Brian and Roman, but found out that Tej Parker and Suki were driving the cars instead.
