- "The military ain't letting up, we need to cross the border."

The Montequinto Recovery Mission was an unsuccessful mission undertaken by Dominic Toretto's Crew to recover half of Project Aries from the wreckage of Mr. Nobody's plane.
Background
At some point in 2014, Mr. Nobody recruited Han to protect Project Aries and faked his death through Deckard Shaw. Han was also tasked with protecting a young girl named Elle Lue whose parents had Project Aries and locked it with her DNA. After recovering the device and returning it to Mr. Nobody, it was split in half with both halves separated for protection, one being placed in a church in Edinburgh in which Mr. Nobody had a vault.
At some point after The Fate of the Furious, Mr. Nobody apprehended Cipher for her crimes and was taking her to a maximum security prison on his plane in which he also had one half of Project Aries with him which was to be placed in a secure facility.
Whilst flying Cipher to the maximum security prison, the plane was infiltrated by Jakob Toretto and Otto who extracted Cipher and tried recovering Project Aries before the plane crashed. During the attack, Mr. Nobody sent an SOS signal to Dominic Toretto's Crew which allowed them to find Project Aries so they could keep it safe from rogue agents.

After Ramsey was able to decode Mr. Nobody's SOS message, she tracked down the location of where his plane went down in a military guarded region in Montequinto. She discovered that the SOS message was only sent to their team, meaning that Mr. Nobody wanted them to find something on the plane. She also discovered that Cipher was on the plane but then extracted.
Tej lets them know that their plane will be leaving at 8:00 the next morning if they want to join however Dom declines, saying that he was no longer on call, as well as not wanting to go up against the woman who killed Elena Neves. That night, Letty says she will be going, leaving Dom and Little Brian alone. As Dom watched Mr. Nobody's SOS video again, he noticed that one of the men who stormed the plane was wearing a necklace like his and realized it was his brother Jakob.
The next morning as the team prepare to board, they hear Dom roaring up to them in his Charger, indicating that he is joining them. When they arrived in Montequinto, they drove to the crash site of Mr. Nobody's plane and searched the wreckage for clues. Ramsey tracked the signal to a small lock box and after breaking into it, they discover one half of a device called Project Aries. Before they can do anything else, the military arrived and ambushed the team.
Dom and Letty flee in their 2020 Dodge Charger Hellcat and Harley-Davidson Sportster Iron, respectively, with military agents pursuing them. Tej and Ramsey flee in Tej's 2020 Jeep Gladiator and Roman flees in his own car. Along the way, they enter a minefield and Tej warns them that they need to stick to 80MPH or higher to avoid being blown up. They race through the minefields and Roman's car was destroyed and barely escaped being blown up by a landmine before being saved by Tej and Ramsey.
As Dom and Letty escape the minefield, Letty was thrown off her bike and loses the device which was caught by Jakob who arrives in his 2015 Ford Mustang GT350. Dom and Letty both recognise him and continue the chase in Dom's Charger to try and recover the device. Tej tells Dom that they need to cross the border so they are out of the military's jurisdiction and Ramsey finds what she believes is a bridge crossing to the edge of the border.
They discover that the bridge is an old rope bridge and Tej is just barely able to drive across it before it collapses. As Dom and Letty chase after Jakob, he drives off a cliff and is caught by a plane with a magnet underneath it. They discover that the bridge is gone and, ambitiously, Dom drives towards its remains and is able to get his car caught on a rope from the bridge which throws him to a surrounding island and out of the jurisdiction of the military, who fly off.
As Dom and Letty reel from what just happened, Letty claims "that was new".
Aftermath
After the battle, Dom gets in contact with Michael Stasiak, an old contact of his and Brian O'Conner's, who does a favor for Dom and arranged for them to use a warehouse in the Caspian Sea that belonged to Mr. Nobody. The team split up, with Dom going to LA to meet Buddy Hubbard and then London to find Jakob, Letty and Mia go to Tokyo to find information about Han, and Tej and Roman go to Cologne to meet Sean Boswell, Earl and Twinkie.
Jakob returns to his base and meets Cipher for the first time and she uses an old computer found on Mr. Nobody's plane to track down the location of the second half of the device, which is in Edinburgh. She tries to get Jakob to work for her but he declines and she warns him that now that Dom is involved he has no chance of survival.
Jakob then goes to Edinburgh to get the second half where he is followed by Dom, Ramsey, Tej and Roman.
