- He later announced that Chris Morgan was hired as screenwriter.
- The film is currently being produced with his media productions company "Seven Bucks Productions"
- In February 2021, it was announced that the sequel was on hold. Additionally, it was stated that there was no script for the movie yet.[2]
- In May 2021, it was announced that Sung Kang may appear as Han Seoul-Oh in the film. [3]
- In August 2021, it was reported that although Dwayne Johnson had left the main Fast franchise, Hobbs & Shaw 2 was still very much in the works.[4]
